Spain Bets on Circular Fashion: the ‘Re-Viste’ Initiative Marks a Turning Point

Circular fashion has ceased to be a trend and has become an urgent necessity. In Spain, this transformation is gaining momentum with the ‘Re-Viste’ initiative—a pioneering project that was launched in April 2025 under the framework of Law 7/2022 on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).

Major brands such as Zara, Mango, Primark, Decathlon, and El Corte Inglés have joined forces in a common effort to improve the collection and management of textile waste—a key challenge for a country that generates tons of clothing waste every year.

The goal of Re-Viste is clear: to close the textile loop through a collaborative model involving producers, consumers, and local entities. This means that garments will not only have a second life through reuse, repair, or recycling, but the environmental impact of the industry will also be significantly reduced.

The launch of this pilot positions Spain at the forefront of innovation in sustainable fashion, serving as a model for other European countries. It also reinforces the importance of shared responsibility. It is no longer enough for brands to produce more consciously; consumers must also actively participate in returning and sorting their garments.

Circular fashion is thus emerging as a strategic lever not only to reduce waste but also to create new economic opportunities, green jobs, and technological innovation.

At Tekstila, we also aim to give garments a second life, delivering seasonal clothing, footwear, and accessories from our distributors to other international markets.
