Implementing SDGs in fast fashion business: stock treatment

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are the plan to attain a better and more sustainable future for everyone. They address the global challenges we face as a society and that we need to respond as individuals and enterprises, including poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace and justice.

We’re talking about goals which are considered on a global level, but it’s necessary to start with local initiatives in order to get somewhere.

At Tekstila we’ve joined the SDGs because as individuals we have to start recognising the work which first of all has to take place inside of us, in order to make our families, friendships and communities more integrated. The Worldwide Goals help us examine our own lives in order to identify the ways our lifestyle really contributes to inequality, injustice, climate change and extreme poverty across the world.

As we work within the fashion industry, we are part of the solution to reduce the Fast-Fashion footprint and how this phenomenon is affecting our environment. The current model of linear economies leads us to we live under the premise of ‘Buy more, use less’, a formula of accelerated consumption which leads us to become a highly as products are quickly consumed and discarded, or even never reach their first use

We promote the health and wellbeing, gender equality, responsible production and consumption, climate action objectives and alliances in order to attain the objectives.

At Tekstila we have very clear values and objectives and we’d love to share them with you.

Environmental Goals

To find commercially viable solutions to the overproduction of fast fashion collections.

To respect the resources allocated in its production, without adding transformations processes to a garment that has never been used.

Social Goals

To generate business opportunities and promote socio-economic development in developing countries.

To bring NEW garments from brands at accessible prices in the countries where the brands are not available yet or there’s no options to access new garments at accessible prices

To promote jobs in local areas

Fast Fashion Brands

To find a responsible, profitable and safe way to dispose of the unsold clothing and make space for the new collections, while generating income.

International fashion importers

To find a reliable provider of original, high quality garments to distribute in their country.
